Midtown Madness is a spectacular addition to the driving genre. It puts you in place to drive up any street in Downtown Chicago and it does so with the utmost realism. The city is like a living breathing city, it has a fully functional traffic system with traffic lights, police, freeways. An airport and many other city features like all the buildings, stairs, football stadiums.

You can Cruise, Blitz, or Race. Cruising is just drive where you want with no competition. Fun if you want to explore the city. Blitz and Race modes are similar. Although in race mode only the track is available to be raced on. Side Streets are blocked off. While in Blitz mode you can go where you want to take the fastest route through all the checkpoints.
The driving model is real and so is the damage factor. A few crashes and boom you're gone. And if you're in a race you'll have to restart it. This feature can be a pain, though it is real. As far as the actual control and speed of the different cars. They all handle like you would think they would and the driving model is very well done.

Do the fun things, you can jump the draw bridges, drive down stairs. Drive around an airport after the planes, drive through a shopping center or a football game. So much to do and so little time.
The future of the game is bright. You can go on the net where you'll be able to get into a fun game of cops and robbers on the Microsoft Gaming Zone. And once you're completely bored with the game, they'll have the first expansion out. Which is currently set to be London and they'll have extra cars too.

With day, night, snow and other weather options as well as traffic density. You can make the perfect scenario. Loads of traffic to weave your way through. Or drive on a snowy night.
Another great thing about Midtown Madness is it's visuals. They are fantastic. Offering another level of realism that has to be seen to be believed. Just take a look at the screen shots. The sounds are always interesting, fun and quirky. You'll get used to them after a little amount of time.
