ATTRIBUTES OF A WP OPERATOR
Some people are better suited to word processing than others and the following points summarise some of the aptitudes and skills which are required in addition to training.
KEYBOARD SKILLS
Keyboard skills and a knowledge of correct type-writing display, together with a good typing speed are necessary for an efficient operator.
ENGLISH
An operator should have a good knowledge of the English language including spelling, grammar and punctuation. Although many systems have a spelling check available, the onus is still on the operator to input material which is well constructed and correctly spelled and punctuated.
CONCENTRATION
An operator should be able to concentrate wholly on the job in hand and be happy working with a machine.
METHODICAL APPROACH
It is important for an operator to work in an orderly manner in all aspects of the system and this includes recognising the importance of file codes backing up data and retention times.
ADAPTABILITY
An operator should be able to cope should the system break down or if the software is updated. A calm, adaptable approach is required so that any crisis is dealt with in a practical manner.
