Park in front of the church next door;   practices are at the back of the house. All are invited back to my house afterwards for tea, coffee, and talking about dancing.

Studio 3, Inner City Dance Studios           Queen St, above MacDonalds, 1/2 block South of intersection with Victoria St.

We usually repair to a cafe afterwards to talk about dancing.

Cost Gold-coin donation to Birkdale Community House (I suggest ~ $3/class) $5 per class.

Content:   Renaissance dances from Italy, France and England.            The SCA, and the renaissance, fizzle out somewhere around 1600, so I stick to sources written by people who were dancing before then (i.e. Negri, whose manual was published in 1602, is in; Playford, who was born in 1623, and  published his first collection of dances in 1651, is out - unless you come up with a good argument to persuade me otherwise). On any given evening I try to stick to one time and place.

Suitable for: Anyone with an interest in renaissance dancing. Neither experience nor a partner is required, but even seasoned dancers should find something to interest them.

What to wear: Comfortable modern clothes, and soft, flexible, flat shoes (or dance in bare feet or socks). You can wear renaissance costume if you like, but it's not necessary.

Requests: Just ask!  Here's a list of the dance music I have on CDs. If I don't know a dance well, or don't have the music yet, you might have to wait a few weeks.
